Basic Purpose

To plan, manage, and direct the development and governance of Navy Federal’s Security Architecture.  Ensure architectures align technology plans with business goals and strategies and will consult with ISD, InfoSec, and business teams regarding their technical needs and how the architecture guides and fulfills those needs. They will manage the planning, development and review of the Security Architecture including documentation, review, discussion, and advocacy. 

Responsibilities:
•    Plan, direct and oversee Security Architecture team daily operations, provide guidance and technical insight for portfolio planning and prioritization
•    Maintain a deep understanding of security practices, processes, and interdependencies across NFCU and possibly with third parties
•    Contribute to the strategy, planning, implementation, and operation of enterprise wide zero trust architecture
•    Bring external perspective, ideas, and best practices from relevant sources, keep current with technology, government/policy impacts and industry best practices 
•    Provide a point of escalation for the Security Architecture team and assist to resolve issues and blockers
•    Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders within both ISD and Information Security
•    Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to Security Architecture team, Project Leaders, and leadership from ISD and Information Security
•    Advise ISD Senior Leadership and Information Security on Security Architecture matters
•    Collaborate with ISD Senior Leadership and Information Security to develop the long-term strategic direction and roadmap for Security Architecture 
•    Continuously improve architecture tools, processes, and delivery artifacts to maintain relevance and value
•    Ensure timely, accurate and quality-driven development of Security Architectures
•    Ensure that proposed and existing Security Architectures are aligned with Standards, Goals and Objectives from ISD and Information Security
•    Establish and monitor internal/external controls for compliance and audit purposes
•    Perform supervisory/managerial duties: 
•    Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Security Architects
•    Establish performance goals and priorities; capture metrics
•    Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals
•    Develop, mentor and counsel Security Architecture team
•    Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)
•    Ensure goals and objectives align with ISD, PEDS, and TSA strategy
•    Ensure efficiency of operations
•    Leadership Level – Supervise daily activities
•    Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience  
•    Ten years minimum experience in cybersecurity, information security, and information technology or related field
•    Possess a working knowledge of the activities within the lines of business; experience in the financial industry preferred with knowledge of industry standards (FFIEC, GLBA, NCUA, PCI DSS, TOGAF, SABSA, Zachman)
•    Expert communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff and leaders at all levels and facilitate and manage team interactions
•    Advanced skill speaking and or presenting in front of all levels of staff and management in a professional setting to include facilitating workshops, discussions and creating compelling and engaging presentations
•    Significant experience with architecture strategies such as defense in depth and zero trust practices
•    Experience as a process owner, responsibility for introducing and optimizing processes, practices, and changes at an enterprise level and coordinating across business units effectively
•    Strong understanding of risk management and regulatory requirements pertaining to information security, privacy and/or data protection
•    In-depth understanding of industry standards and practices (ISO, NIST, COBIT, COSO, ITIL)
•    Experience leading and managing a team, directly managing individuals and developing their career trajectory
•    Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities and competing agendas without express authority over teams
•    Ability to interpret and fairly apply policies and regulations across a large, complex business
•    Analytical aptitude with an emphasis on using an inquiry-based approach, methodical critical questioning and logical thinking; good judgment; and ability to identify and report on key metrics

Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:
•    Experience managing diverse teams and handling administrative and human resources actions
•    Mastery of industry knowledge: CISSP, CISM, and other security certifications preferred
•    Mastery of industry standards as shown by certifications: (ISACA, NIST, COBIT, COSO, ITIL)
•    Experience (and preferably certification) in agile methods and ways of working; Six Sigma or process analysis and/or change management background

Salary: $144,100 - $237,600

*Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
