Basic Purpose

To support Information Security with department-wide internal strategic communications to achieve organizational, strategic, financial, and member service goals and objectives. Develop internal communications for department initiatives and related projects. Facilitate the production and review processes and make recommendations to ensure efficiency and the success of department goals. The InfoSec Communications Specialist – Design will plan and manage instructional design projects and initiatives within the business unit. Develop instructional courses tailored to meet the desired learning outcomes and needs of Navy Federal and the learners. This resource will design and develop complex multimedia elements (graphics; animations) and apply agile techniques to develop Interactive Multimedia Instruction; Web-based training, video-based learning solutions, and software simulations to support employee learning and development initiatives and business unit objectives across the organization. The resource will collaborate to implement strategies for Information Security educating and training employees to achieve higher levels of performance.


Responsibilities:

•    Collaborate with others to create and design Information Security courses and curricula; ensure accuracy of content and test multimedia elements
•    Conduct complex needs assessment on request from management to provide customized training or individual guidance to improve and develop performance
•    Create and edit new LMS learning activities; set up required training assignments in LMS; create custom LMS reports
•    Create dynamic instructional and training materials using current technologies including references and support tools that reinforce training, increase efficiency and help produce error-free work
•    Design and use quantitative and qualitative methods and metrics to determine if knowledge transferred effectively and/or the desired behavior change occurred after training
•    Develop and test course content, training games, graphic designs and other technology driven products
•    Involved in instructional design project teams with multiple deliverables, significant risk and complexity
•    Provide information about new or advanced instructional theories and tools to other designers and/or trainers
•    Select most effective instructional approach including a blend of instructor-led and/or self-directed techniques
•    Serves as change management lead for business unit; apply change management principles and knowledge to develop strategies including organizational assessments, stakeholder analysis and change roadmaps and plans
•    Validate and integrate feedback, assessments and course evaluations into current and new training course content and/or delivery vehicle
•    Create creative graphics for C-suite and Board level presentations that translate Information Security risk messages into understandable narratives in collaboration with risk writers
•    Lead, guide and mentor less experienced staff
•    Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

•    Master Degree in Instructional Design and Technology or five years of  relevant experience 
•    Advanced ability to adapt to fluctuating work-flow 
•    Advanced ability to compile, organize and present information clearly and concisely 
•    Expert in working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects 
•    Extensive experience in evaluating the effectiveness of courses and learning products and delivery methods 
•    Extensive experience in researching/writing course content and/or developing courses, demonstrations, graphic designs and other technology driven products 
•    Expert knowledge of instructional theories, educational psychology, educational theory, tools and resources 
•    Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills 
•    Advanced skill capturing and translating processes and requirements into easily understood terms 
•    Advanced skill interacting tactfully and effectively in time-sensitive situations 
•    Advanced skill to successfully influence, lead and/or guide others towards goals 
•    Advanced verbal and written communication skills 
•    Advanced database and presentation software skills 
•    Advanced skill collaborating with various external and internal technical and/or functional contacts 
•    Advanced skill communicating with all levels within an organization 
•    Advanced word processing and spreadsheet software skills 
•    Extensive experience in multi-media training 


Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:

•    Familiarity with Navy Federal’s organizational culture, values, products/services, and policies and procedures
•    Working knowledge of change management principles and practices
•    Understanding of Information Security and associated risk management
•    Experience writing about information security topics, including phishing, patching, and data breaches
•    Knowledge of Information Security frameworks (NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, ISO 27001)
•    Experience using Confluence and Jira
•    Experience working in internal corporate communications, executive communications, or employee communications environments
