Basic Purpose

Direct and lead the Marketing Project Management team to ensure operations are efficient and effective while executing initiatives and campaigns to expand and strengthen the Navy Federal brand. Oversee and establish the project management strategy and ensure alignment with the division/organizational goals and initiatives. Serve as a strategic forward thinking leader with demonstrated experience in managing, guiding and mentoring team members, with strong project management skills and extensive experience in change management. Coordinate and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external contacts including stakeholders, project managers and marketing subject matter experts. Primary point of contact for project management and direct leadership on related issues.


• Manage and lead a large Marketing Project Management team (12-14); ensure the team has proper resources to successfully execute their roles; provide support and feedback, and develop solutions when appropriate
• Collaborate with leadership to coordinate, execute and maintain programs and initiatives and present conclusions and serve as strategic advisor with recommendations to management
• Direct project managers to stay within approved start dates, budget, and completion dates; facilitate the plan of action and manage all steps of the action; provide oversight and lead the team to yield a successful completion of each project.
• Ensure all Project Managers (PMs) manage the project lifecycle from concept through planning, analysis, design, testing, and implementation
• Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight on all project management workload, tasks, and projects; maintain a holistic view of current and future workload
• Maintain working knowledge of the overall Marketing process; provide recommendations for improvements where appropriate; contribute to change management efforts
• Manage and track team workload allocations and project hours to assist with the project prioritization determinations; adjust assignments to meet fluctuating workload and future projects
• Ensure project documentation and schedules are in compliance with agreed requirements and standards
• Lead teams and task groups for projects/initiatives within the business unit &/or across the organization
• Ensure all marketing projects, deliverables and processes are managed within the project management tool
• Provide project management support and leadership to the entire Marketing Operations team
• Provide solutions to critical issues, delays or roadblocks that will affect timing and completion
• Present data and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders
• Full life-cycle project management
    o Establish and lead project teams
    o Develop project plan/scope/schedule/cost/communications
    o Procure and/or manage resources/timelines/deadlines/quality
    o Risk, Issue and Change management
    o Ensure successful project implementation
    o Scope of responsibility
• Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities
    o Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees
    o Establish performance goals and priorities
    o Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals
    o Develop, mentor and counsel staff
    o Ensure section/branch goals and objectives align with division/department strategy
    o Ensure efficiency of operations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Advanced knowledge of marketing, corporate communications principles, and marketing corporate communication
Extensive experience leading, guiding, and mentoring direct reports in a supervisory role
Significant experience in demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving business problems
Significant knowledge of project management
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Management, Communications, or Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
• Significant skill in strategic planning that demonstrates a thorough knowledge of product areas
• Significant organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and exercise a high degree of initiative
• Extensive experience in working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects
• Experience in working with diverse internal and external contacts
• Experience in leading, guiding and coaching multi-functional/professional teams to ensure timely and accurate outcomes
• Advanced skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
• Experience in presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely
• Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
• Experience in resolving conflicting requests and meeting changing requirements
• Effective skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tact
• Advanced skill with database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software

Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Marketing, Management, Communications, or Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
Project Management Professional (PMP) or has a Project Management Professional certification
• Working knowledge of regulatory and financial regulations and compliance protocol
• Working knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations, systems, and organizational objectives
