Basic Purpose

To recover balances owing on accounts receivable items resulting from returned checks, overdrawn share accounts, and employee errors.


  • Analyze, research and resolve problems and discrepancies related to member accounts/loans
  • Communicate with members and coordinate equitable repayment arrangement and resolution of accounts receivable items
  • Document member interaction and plan of action to recover outstanding balances/items
  • Ensure required notifications, including collection emails, letters and any applicable state/regulatory letters are sent to members
  • Evaluate collection efforts/options and recommend items for charge-off
  • Provide counseling to members regarding budgeting, financial planning and asset disposal to mitigate financial hardships
  • Recommend new loans to resolve accounts receivable items
  • Recommend/escalate members to budgetary counseling as appropriate
  • Use on-line tools and contact appropriate parties
  • Analyze potentially fraudulent cases; verify by obtaining affidavits or other appropriate documentation
  • Consult with and refer suspect accounts to Security for appropriate action
  • Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and industry laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications – All required unless otherwise noted

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Familiarity with Navy Federal Collection Systems
  • Working knowledge of credit & collections related federal and state fair lending/consumer protection laws & regulations
  • Basic word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Effective organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills


  • Experience in interacting with attorneys, courts, or trustees
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures

Bank Secrecy Section

Remains cognizant of and adheres to Navy Federal policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.


Sheduled Work Days:   Monday - Friday
Regular Shift Hours:     12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Initial Training Hours:   Will vary from beginning at 7:00 a.m. to ending at 5:30 p.m.
