Basic Purpose

To research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain system and product solutions, applying knowledge of engineering principles. To provide technical direction and engineering support for projects and infrastructure.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
The Service Asset and Configuration Management team is seeking an experienced CMDB Engineer and Developer at Navy Federal Credit Union. Responsibilities include the following:
 
1. Provide Administrative Support to the Configuration Management Databases.
• Perform daily tool maintenance to ensure the integrity and operational performance of the CMDB
• Implement CMDB patches and upgrades and tool integrations
• Provide administrative and customer support for the CMDB Suite to include the CMDB Application, Database and Probes
• Investigate and diagnose CMDB incidents, problems and defects, and collaborate with internal technical teams and vendors for root cause determination and resolution
• Configure and maintain the automated probes and discovery schedule
 
2. Create and maintain Configuration Item (CI) definitions and map CIs to services, business functions, applications and other related logical entities
• Work with the current SACM team members and other ISD Teams to meet current and future needs
• Respond to inquiries from other ISD areas (e.g., Developers/Analysts, Architects and Project Managers) and other customers regarding Configuration Management process, principles, procedures, and tools
• Participate in creating and enforcing policies and processes to define and maintain CIs in the CMDB
 
3. Conduct engineering and technical research and make recommendations on proposed solutions; anticipate and adjust for potential problems
• Develop processes and automated solutions to integrate CMDBs, reduce manual effort and increase effectiveness
• Participate in technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration of new and modified systems
• Recommend design modifications to maximize availability and performance
• Ensure security and integrity of system and product solutions
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards for information security
 
4. Coordinate with other ISD and business unit staff regarding implementation and modification of system and product solutions
• Work on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features
• Train, guide and mentor less experienced staff
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to internal customers and other ISD staff
• Participate in weekly Collaboration user sessions
• Performs other related duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Demonstrated CMDB administrative and developmental expertise (HP uCMDB and ServiceNow)
• Experience using MicroFocus’ Service Manager or other ticketing system for IT Service Management Processes such as Change Management, Incident, Problem Management, etc.
• Experience integrating the CMDB with other tools, i.e.,  MicroFocus’ Service Manager and Asset Manager, Service Now and Mainframe
• Experience in a Cloud Environment
• Understanding of principles and definitions of Configuration Management, including data modeling, definition of configuration item types and CIs, mapping of CIs to business applications, functions and services
• Capable of working on multiple projects, resolve conflicting requests, and adapt to changing requirements and priorities
• Ability to create and maintain detailed schematics and other documentation for system and product solutions
• Ability to apply research and analytical techniques to the design and development of new and existing systems and products
• Proven skillset in troubleshooting and resolving complex system and product defects
• Experience with system and product performance, reliability and availability
• Generate capacity forecasts for system and product solutions
• Capable of working on multiple projects, resolve conflicting requests, and adapt to changing requirements and priorities
• Experienced in large project efforts from a technical perspective
• Strong analytical, planning and technical problem solving skills
• Ability to clearly and concisely present findings and conclusions
• Ability to exercise initiative, produce desired results and achieve objectives
• Solid documentation and organizational skills
• Comfortable working with all levels of employees, including senior management
• Effective written and verbal communications skills;
• Proficiently lead, guide, and mentor others
• Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
 
Desired:
• Advanced degree or formal training
• Certification in appropriate engineering discipline
• Familiarity with financial industry
• Understanding of ITIL concepts and/or certification in ITIL
• Knowledge of NFCU operations, processes and procedures
• In-depth knowledge and experience with Navy Federal's products and services
• Extensive presentation skills
• Possesses the most advanced technical skills
