Basic Purpose

The Network Engineer is a senior position within ISD, which ensures the stability, integrity, performance, and sustainability of the enterprise network infrastructure.  This position will provide technical direction and engineering support for projects and infrastructure.  Develop and maintain expert functional knowledge of evolving industry technologies, concepts, and trends.
 
Responsibilities:

* Applying advanced knowledge, skills, experience, and best practices in planning, designing, and developing infrastructure technologies
* Ensure the security and integrity of system and product solutions including compliance with Navy Federal, industry engineering and Information Security principles and practices 
* Perform engineering tasks and assignments in support of business needs
* Perform engineering technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systems 
* Provide technical leadership in the architecture discipline and development of information technology solutions
* Document new system components, or modifications to existing components
* Present clear, organized and concise information to all audiences through a variety of media to enable effective business decisions 
* Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or the equivalent combination of training, experience, education and industry standard certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) with proven skills and ability may substitute
* Extensive hands on experience with Cisco routers and switches
* Strong understanding of IP Networking including routing, switching, TCP/IP, IP subnetting, load balancing, traffic optimization, performance monitoring, Cisco IOS, BGP, EIGRP
* Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills are required. 
* Strong experience in capturing and analyzing traffic using packet capturing tools.
* Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
* Advanced experience working in large complex enterprise networks
* Expert research, analytical, and problem solving skills
* Expert verbal and written communication skills
 
Desired:
* Proficient in Python scripting
* Experience creating automation scripts with Ansible
* Proficient in Wireshark
* Certification’s (CCDA, CCDN or CCDE)

 Hours: 
Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM CST
