Basic Purpose

To support  Navy Federal  by providing comprehensive architectural leadership in translating Navy Federal’s business vision and strategies into effective IT and business capabilities through the design, implementation, and integration of IT systems.

As a Solutions Architect, you will help implement innovative solutions and solve technical problems in the financial services domain. We are looking for an experienced technologist with a unique balance of technical depth and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership 
• Partners with business units and ISD stakeholders to ensure technical solutions fit business needs
• Continuously improves technical knowledge and expertise of assigned suite of applications via design and architecture reviews
• Maintains current awareness of industry standards, innovations and industry best practices applicable to assigned applications
• Provides technical guidance, subject matter expertise and promotes cross training among staff

2.  Architectural Deliverables
• Collaborates with customers and analysts to evaluate and assist in building business requirements
• Participates with product discovery, planning and execution through entire product lifecycle
• Promotes development, delivery and maintenance of quality documentation for assigned applications
• Identifies opportunities for improvement and initiates Project Portfolio Management requests
• Contributes to Rough Order of Magnitude level estimates within the defined SLAs timeframe and assists with additional refined estimates
• Promotes adherence to Navy Federal’s defined Project Management Framework and enterprise standards
• Participates in vendor selection process by creating and/or validating vendor SOWs, RFPs, software evaluations and other activities

3.  Architecture Governance
• Provides guidance for adherence to the documented enterprise, application and architecture principles
• Performs reviews of all new and existing applications and system modifications to promote scalability and business continuity through designs prior to deployment
• Approve designs and conduct code reviews for project team

Required Qualifications (Level I):
• Experience with advanced programming languages, system technologies, analysis and design techniques
• Prior experience as an Architect or in a Technical Lead role
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Especially the ability to clearly communicate complicated ideas to less technical team members
• Coordinate with multiple team members, including fellow architects and technical leads, when crafting solutions
• Ability to create technical documents/whitepapers, and experience presenting and defending designs to a technical audience
• Ability to assume ownership of a solution and see it through multiple stages over long periods of time
• Experience and comfort with estimating effort, sometimes on large efforts
• Experience evaluating commercial solutions
• Experience with enterprise, high volume applications

Desired Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in a related field
• Experience with Swift, and/or the iOS SDK
• Familiarity with the Android SDK
• Familiarity with accessibility and intersections with mobile space, tools/techniques
• Knowledge of web application security risks, attack vectors, specific security challenges of the mobile device context, and emerging attack vectors for mobile
• Experience with a JavaScript application framework (Backbone, Angular, React, Ember or Vue)
• Experience with jQuery including DOM manipulation/event handling, and asynchronous programming/callbacks
• Familiar with Responsive Web Design
• Proficient in Service Oriented Architecture and related methodologies
• Knowledge of at least one architecture framework, preferably TOGAF v9 Certified

Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm
