Basic Purpose

To manage the financial reporting function through providing internal and external information about the organization’s results of operations, financial condition, and cash flows. To oversee financial reporting requirements and compliance related to financial activities and transactions.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Responsible for managing the preparation and review of monthly internal board reports, quarterly National Credit Union Administration 5300 Call Report filings, and annual report.
•Responsible for managing the preparation and review of the benefit plan financial statements and audits.
•Research, resolve, and ensure compliance with evolving accounting guidance through providing clear, logical and comprehensive interpretation of U.S. GAAP and its impact to financial reports.
•Evaluate the classification of financial information to ensure compliance with financial accounting standards and federal regulations.
•Ensure financial information reported is complete, accurate, and conform with accounting principles
•Manage communications with external auditors to ensure auditor agreement with accounting disclosures and issues.
•Maintain and implement strong reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
•Oversee the maintenance of financial reporting systems, tools, work papers, etc. used in support of financial information.
•Identifies and oversees modifications for the financial information system to enhance the retrieval and analysis of financial data.
•Performs managerial supervision.
•Plans and controls section operations, schedules staff and assigns work.
•Selects employees and maintains adequate staffing, oversees training and development, and conducts performance appraisals.
•Participate in other projects as required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting
•CPA required
•8+ years of combined public accounting and corporate financial reporting experience
•Excellent knowledge of U.S. GAAP and relevant rules and regulations, combined with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
•In-depth knowledge of and significant experience with financial management theory and practice, and laws related to financial reporting, including interpreting and applying legal and procedural requirements, analyzing highly complex financial data
•Supervisory experience including demonstrated skill in leading/guiding others and in planning, overseeing and executing complex financial analyses
•Strong project management skills with the ability to analyze and recommend improvements
•Superior analytical and computer skills
