Basic Purpose

To provide support to Personal Finance Management Branch management and counselors in headquarters/field offices/Pensacola locations who are responsible for providing free financial counseling and education to the members of Navy Federal.

Responsibilities:

1. Furnishes debt management program and credit counseling information to potential members and creditors.
• Explains the policies and procedures of the Personal Finance Management Branch(PFMB) to members, creditors, pre-qualifying members, and other representatives of external Debt Management Programs(DMP)
• Provides literature and forms to members who seek counseling
• Determines urgency of response based on criticality of members’ financial distress
• Cross references information on internal member account systems to protect the organization against losses
• Responds to members via PFMB E-mail account
• Reviews current counseling notes andprovides member with outcome or information needed to complete action

2. Provides support to the Personal Finance Management Branch.
• Process proposals from Outside Debt Management Companies
• Enters and processes all loan modifications
• Completes all forms and paperwork for reduced interest on loans and credit cards
• Sets up payments to creditors via printing checks, ACH Speed pays and/or account transfers
• Prepares the daily production report form
• Manages and sorts e-mail/incoming mail/scan docs/e-faxes for branch
• Ensure all documentation is sent for imaging

3. Maintains debt management data files, spreadsheets and folders.
• Monitors and updates reduced interest databases
• Records member’s personal finance information in master files
• Freezes and/or closes lines or credit or existing credit cards when modifications are necessary
• Creates and maintain spreadsheets/reports for individual counselors as well as PFMB weekly and monthly reporting

4. Performs other duties as assigned or appropriate

Qualifications:

Required:
• General office experience to include correspondence preparation, filing, record keeping and organizing and excellent telephone skills
• Proficiency in the use of PCs, databases and word processing software with skills to create and maintain spreadsheets
• Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, especially in dealing with confidential and sensitive financial issues and obtaining or providing information to members and creditors
• Skill in performing basic mathematic calculations and in working with numbers
• Skill in understanding, applying and explaining complex policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently

Desired:
• Experience and/or training in a financial, credit bureau or debt management organization
• Knowledge of Navy Federal practices regarding credit and lending issues
• Knowledge of credit/debt management processes
• Knowledge of power point

Hours:
Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:30PM
