Basic Purpose

To collect, return and prepare materials, supplies, tools and equipment used for plumbing projects. To perform rudimentary tasks of installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of all water pipes, sprinkler pipes, bathroom fixtures, kitchen plumbing, water coolers, hot water heaters, the water pressure booster pumps, the hydronics closed water system and components (e.g., expansion tanks, PRV’s and backflow preventors) and the boilers. To gain knowledge and experience hands-on application of more advanced plumbing skills.
 
Unusual Working Conditions: The work is physical and requires a certain degree of agility to bend, reach, stoop, climb, and work in uncomfortable positions. Work requires lifting and carrying moderately heavy materials and equipment.
 
Major Responsibilities
 
Duty # and % of Time Descriptor
 
1. 35% Prepares system or equipment parts and materials as instructed. Provides general assistance for installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of all water pipes, sprinkler pipes, bathroom fixtures, kitchen plumbing, water coolers, hot water heaters, the water pressure booster pumps, the hydronics closed water system and components (e.g., expansion tanks, PRV’s and backflow preventors) and the boilers.
 
2. 30% Following work instructions and simple drawings or diagrams, performs plumbing maintenance tasks such as repairing or replacing valves or faucets, soldering leaky pipes, and clearing clogged drains.
 
3. 25% Picks up and deliver supplies as required. Gathers and returns tools, supplies, equipment, and materials for use in plumbing projects as instructed.
 
4. 5% Checks pressure gauges, controls, and/or chemical levels of systems such as the boilers, the cooling towers, hydronics closed water system filters, and domestic water filters. Makes or assists with adjustments to maintain prescribed operational standards.
 
5. 5% Performs other related duties as required or appropriate.
 
Requirements
 
• Must possess driver’s license
• Two years plumbing experience
• Satisfactory completion of second year classes in the Apprenticeship Program for plumbers or formal training equivalent
• Basic knowledge of the tools, mathematics, materials and safety regulations associated with the plumbing trade
• Ability to follow work instructions and read and interpret simple drawings and diagrams
 
Hours: Monday – Friday, 2:30PM – 11:00PM CST
