Basic Purpose

To develop, deploy, and analyze marketing tests/campaigns, develop data mining insights for marketing and apply this intelligence to drive CRM strategies to meet Navy Federal product/revenue/member engagement goals.


1. Participates in developing Marketing strategies and tactical implementation plans.
• Develops marketing test plans/campaigns, by providing key inputs to implementation efforts and recommending appropriate performance measures to determine success of plans/campaigns
• Defines and develops marketing lists using various software applications to meet unique characteristics of each campaign/test program
• Researches and/or provides recommendations to management on potential new strategies or functional initiatives
• Develops product marketing strategies by inclusion of cross-servicing strategies and channels into the plans
• Develops strategies for all stages of product and member life-cycle (i.e., acquisition, on-boarding, activation/usage/relationship maintenance, and retention)
• Collaborates and develops client relationships to create and implement functional initiatives
• Identifies cross business unit staff resources and information required to develop programs and/or marketing campaigns
• Conducts QA of work performed by less experienced analysts, focusing on formulating appropriate business rules for cross servicing inbound campaigns

2. Analyzes Navy Federal Marketing programs and market environment for opportunities to expand product and service offerings to support Navy Federal growth strategies and functional initiatives.
• Develops and implements various automated marketing reports and post campaign analyses
• Collaborates with various functional areas to communicate marketing results and analytical insights, make recommendations, obtain acceptance and commitment with recommended marketing plans
• Analyzes marketing methodologies by frequent review of market environment (to include industry trends, product acceptance etc.) to determine the most effective marketing methodologies to introduce and/or improve product and service offerings
• Develops and maintains predictive models using data mining tools (e.g. SAS/JMP, SPSS/Clementine) and applies those models to enhance member targeting and identify key business opportunities
• Develops program initiatives utilizing segmentation strategies based on customer behaviors, business drivers, competitive environment and past program results

3. Manages internal partners and outside vendors to ensure high quality program execution.
• Engages in work plan development, pricing discussions and negotiations
• Ensures file transfer comply with data security protocols
• Reviews information from internal/external data bases for data integrity
• Collaborates with procurement to ensure work plans are finalized accurately and quickly
• Identifies issues and/or concerns which may increase costs or timeliness of campaign or research execution to meet plan deadlines and makes recommendations to management for adjustments to plan strategy

4. Performs other duties as necessary

Level II:
1. Identify, develop and execute marketing strategies.
• Identifies and assesses marketing strategies and opportunities and develops appropriate analytical approaches and solutions
• Participates in developing portions of large scale project plans to include resources, scope, methodology, tools and techniques
• Provides analytical insight to develop marketing attributes (e.g. Audience sizing/targeting, test design and other attributes)
• Adapts and/or modify complex analytical tools and/or models, etc. for developing marketing models, reports etc.

2. Synthesizes results of analysis, develops and makes recommendations and presents results.
• Delivers recommendations and alternatives in a clear, concise and understandable language to solve unique and complex problems
• Conducts analysis for entire marketing campaign “life cycle” management with minimal guidance from senior team members
• Engages up to “mid management” level to recommend actions that support product/revenue/membership goals
• May participate in the design and writing of white papers, complex reports, presentations, etc.

3. Collaborates with key stakeholders to facilitate execution of marketing campaigns.
• Superior knowledge of specific product marketing goals, engagement strategies/tactics, reporting tools, data elements, and channel capabilities
• Participates in development of marketing campaign strategies
• May lead portions of large, cross-functional project teams involving marketing/member engagement initiatives of significant business risk and impact
• Participates in/or provides input into management of vendor relationships
• Trains and provides guidance to lower leveled analysts

Qualifications -- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s in a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
• Significant knowledge and experience in marketing campaign “life-cycle” management with a broad range of marketing research tools, trends and technologies - e.g. data mining, Cognos, Business Objects, SAS, JMP, SPSS, SQL, CRM platforms such as Infor or TRM, Mintel Comperemedia, Claritas tools, Omniture etc.
• Highly effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Excellent experience communicating and presenting technical results to shareholders and senior management in a clear, concise and understandable language
• Experience working in a “matrix” environment and managing multiple priorities at the same time
• Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and problem solving skills
• Proficiency with word processing, database, and spreadsheet software

• Masters Degree in Marketing, Business or related field.
• Knowledge of credit union and/or financial services operations
• Thorough understanding of Navy Federal's objectives, functions, and policies
