Basic Purpose

Mortgage Underwriting is focused on creating an exceptional member and employee experience. This business unit is responsible for the review process of Mortgage Loan Applications. We work closely with all areas of the Real Estate Lending department and engage in many projects and initiatives focused on process improvement and business optimization.

The selected intern will be a part of the Mortgage Underwriting Business Support Team, which is responsible for all projects, change management, and process improvement work for the business unit. We are always looking for process solutioning to push us forward as a continuous trusted partner within Real Estate Lending. The Business Support Team has a wealth of expertise in Project and Program Management, Business Intelligence, Product Strategy, Business Systems, and Process Improvement. We apply these skills daily as we represent Mortgage Underwriting on initiatives, plan and execute on strategy, and support executive leadership in the execution of the strategic direction and roadmap.

Joining this team will allow you to gain exposure in the following areas:

•    Independent research on generational differences in the workforce
•    Analysis of internal best practices
•    Development of recommendations and solutions for enhancing employee engagement across all groups

It will be essential for the team member in this role to be research and results minded, with the ability to navigate the responsibilities of independent research. The selected intern will also be expected to leverage data and analysis to support recommendations and proposed adjustments to employee engagement and learning strategies.

•    Research generational differences as it pertains to learning, engagement, and 
     career expectations/desires
•    Analyze internal developmental strategies and engagement techniques
•    Develop recommendations for strategic adjustments to internal processes and 
     learning strategies to promote engagement and knowledge retention across all generations
•    Prepare end-of-internship proposal based on findings and recommendations of external and 
     internal research
•    Become integrated into and participate in the day-to-day strategy, analysis, and operations 
     of the Business Support team

•    Must be pursuing an undergraduate or higher degree from an accredited 
•    Experience with research and analysis
•    Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
•    Good communication and presentation skills
•    Ability to work independently and think outside of the box
•    Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills
•    Background or Undergraduate/Graduate focus in Education a plus

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range:  $15.00 - $30.10 hourly

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. Within this range, pay will be determined based on factors such as individual qualifications, location, and market position.
